Many people don't know that from 1975-1979 a horrific tragedy took place in Cambodia. An estimated 1.7 million people (21% of the country's population) were murdered in what is now known as the killing fields. For more information about the Cambodian genocide, click here.
It was the greatest mass murders since the holocaust! The primary targets were people of wealth or education or anyone in leadership. As a result, today 75% of Cambodia is under the age of 26 with very few leaders. Cambodia is also known now as the sex trafficking capital of Asia, with 55,000 prostitutes that are children under the age of 16 and some as young as 5 years old.
